STORY
KURAUDIA

The journey of KURAUDIA began nearly fifty years ago when founder Masaharu Kura set out to promote original wedding gowns crafted by his partner. Traveling across Japan in a car filled with these beautiful creations, Kura showcased them from store to store. In traditional Japanese weddings, the bride typically wears a SHIROMUKU, a white wedding kimono, for the ceremony and later changes into an IRO-UCHIKAKE, a vibrant wedding kimono for the reception.

During the 1970s, the rise of television coverage of Japanese and international celebrities' weddings featuring white dresses sparked significant interest among brides-to-be, amplifying the appeal of these elegant designs. However, as the demand for wedding dresses grew, two major manufacturers emerged as market leaders. They faced the challenge of selling their white wedding dresses amidst changing consumer preferences. Accordingly, Kuraudia made a strategic decision to focus on offering evening gowns in various colors for wedding receptions as an alternative to the traditional kimono. This strategy shift has proven to be successful, resulting in Kuraudia's gowns becoming increasingly popular in boutiques across Japan, reflecting the brand's adaptability to changing market demands.

KURAUDIA Co., Ltd. has been a standout leader in the fashion industry since its establishment in 1974. The company proudly launched its first original brand, KOJO, which embodies the elegance of European classical style. Collaborating with iconic fashion designers like YAMAMOTO KANSAI and KENZO, Kuraudia has consistently set trends. Their impressive achievements extend beyond wedding dresses to include exquisite evening gowns, sophisticated tuxedos, and stylish costumes for parents, all crafted in-house. Moreover, the company has revolutionized the market with its original rental wedding attire service, establishing itself as a powerhouse of innovation and quality.

KURAUDIA gained national recognition in 2001 after introducing an original brand in collaboration with a prominent figure in the wedding industry. This success fueled the expansion of its business, leading to the creation of wedding collections in partnership with renowned global fashion brands such asJILL STUART, Paul and Joe, and Barbie. Since 2017, the company has held a license to serve as a contractor for wedding collections in partnership with The Walt Disney Company Japan.

Currently, Kuraudia Holdings Co., Ltd. has developed a portfolio of 80 dress brands and introduces approximately 400 new wedding dress designs annually. This significant growth has enabled it to establish itself as a leading manufacturer of bridal fashion in Japan, with its own factories operating in Japan, China, and Vietnam. The company has previously showcased its renowned brands at prestigious events such as the Paris Haute Couture Collection and the New York Bridal Collection. In 2024, it further expanded its global presence by participating in the Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, emphasizing its commitment to international growth.

Over the 50 years that Kuraudia has operated, Japanese wedding styles have diversified, offering a wide range of options including Shinto ceremonies, church weddings, and weddings at domestic and overseas resorts. In response to changes in the times and demands, the company operates four original domestic and international wedding venues called "EINES VILLA NOZZE.” Additionally, it has expanded flagship shops for original brands such as "GINZA COUTURE NAOCO" and "KIYOKO HATA" nationwide and has also ventured into photography businesses, including popular wedding photo studios in recent years.

KURAUDIA’s inspiring slogan, “Create your dream, Follow your dream, Deliver your dream,” reflects the company’s commitment to the bridal industry. By proactively adapting to the changing demands of the wedding market through innovative sales strategies.
